The court of Elbasan left Laert Haxhiu's gang in prison, his girlfriend's lawyer speaks: The testimony of the penitent was not verified for 3 days

The 11 members of Laert Haxhi's gang were left in prison by the Court of Elbasan. The members of his gang appeared today under strict security measures in front of the Elbasan Court.

They fell into handcuffs after the confessions of the repentant justice, Artan Tafani, who was also present at today's session together with Laert Haxhiu's girlfriend, Klea Gjata. The lawyer of the latter has said that the testimony of the repentant cannot be verified for three days.

"There is a lack of motivation of the prosecutor's office in its investigative actions. It does not happen that for 3 days there is verification and confirmation of the statements of a repentant person. The prosecution body has used extra legal methods, for certain interests", said Klea's lawyer Long, Marine Hysi.

The arrested persons who appeared before the court today are:

9-Klea Gjata, 27 years old,
10-Idriz Manej, 68 years old
11-Fatjon Veliu, 36 years old

As for Laert Haxhiu, he is imprisoned in Greece. Considered a wanted person by the Albanian police, he was captured in Ioannina in May of this year.

Haxhiu was driving a BMW car when he was arrested by the authorities there, along with two other Albanians. But before being handcuffed, they tried to escape from the Greek police. During this time, at least 3 other cars collided and then ended up hitting a curb. In addition to the arrest, the police found 3 Albanians and 1400 Euros.

Laert Haxhiu was wanted since 2017, when he was initially sentenced by the Court of Lushnje to 18 years in prison for the charge of attempted murder, as the author of an event in 2016 where two people were injured. This event has as its genesis the revenges related to the old conflicts of the Lushnje gang. Sakaq Haxhiu is also a person involved in drug trafficking in Albania and convicted by the Court of Durrës.
