Three Albanians have been arrested by Italian police after being accused of a series of violent robberies. The targets were people with valuables, especially luxury brand watches.
The incident that brought about the gang's final blow occurred in September. The victim was a man leaving a nightclub in Meldola, who was brutally attacked near his car. He was punched and kicked, while the perpetrators forcibly took his Rolex watch.
Initially, the incident was considered a random conflict, but investigations revealed that it was part of an organized robbery scheme.
According to Italian authorities, the attack was carried out by two people who waited for the victim on the street, while a third stood guard on the corner of the street. The three suspected perpetrators are Albanian citizens, aged 22, 26 and 47. The two youngest, who do not have a residence in Italy, have been remanded in custody, while the third is under house arrest.
Italian authorities announced that investigations are continuing, as it is suspected that the gang may be involved in other similar events in the surrounding area.
