
An online fraud campaign aimed at extorting citizens and businesses seems to have spread a lot these days in our country.
It is learned that some still unidentified people send e-mails to citizens or businesses using the names of senior State Police leaders, in order to become credible and then demand large sums of money.
Meanwhile, the State Police has issued a notice asking citizens and businesses to be careful of online fraud.
" The Directorate for the Investigation of Cyber Crimes has been made aware of a fraud campaign through computer systems, which targets natural and legal persons, without certain distinctions, with the aim of obtaining various monetary amounts.
The Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes informs all citizens that the immediate police work has started, to prevent the consequences, to investigate the event, as well as to identify and capture the perpetrators.
To help any citizen who may be affected by this scam campaign, attached to this notice you will find the format in which the email message is sent, as well as the fake document attached to this message.
The State Police invites the citizens who have been affected by these messages which have been sent to them in the name of the holders of the State Police, in order to increase the credibility of these messages, to report them immediately to the e-mail address [email protected], of the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes, which is conducting intensive investigations and will provide more information about this fraud campaign in the coming days ," the police announced.
