A 39-year-old Albanian, arrested 12 times, was seen free while walking in the streets of Athens.
Media in the neighboring country say he was recently arrested along with his partner.
Meanwhile, inside their rented car, packages with explosives and detonators were found in a special place under the steering wheel. In another area of the vehicle, the police also discovered a handgun.
In the early hours of Saturday afternoon, the 39-year-old man and his 33-year-old partner were brought before the public prosecutor, who prosecuted them for the criminal offense of possessing and supplying explosives.
The 39-year-old was sentenced to life in prison on drug charges in 2008, but was released in 2015.
According to police sources quoted by Mega, the 39-year-old is suspected of being a member of a robbery group and the explosive was intended for the construction of a bomb, which would be placed in a car or shop.
The 39-year-old with the initials RA was first arrested and deported on 11.04.2007. Then on 10.11.2008, a year later he was sentenced to life imprisonment for drugs.
On 31.07.2015, he was released from the Korydallos psychiatric hospital, and it was then that he was ordered to be deported for life from the country.
Then he was arrested 8 more times, most recently on 06.03.2024 for domestic violence and on 04.06.2024 for rape of a minor.
