Two Albanians have been arrested in Italy after they kidnapped and fined under threat for robbing an Italian couple two years ago.
The operation was carried out on Saturday morning, in the municipalities of Caserta and Parete, when officers of the Carabinieri Company of Santa Maria executed an order for the implementation of precautionary measures in prison, issued by the court, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The attack is suspected to have been motivated by competition, but no further details have been provided.
"This precautionary measure is the culmination of a complex investigative effort coordinated by this Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the aforementioned Carabinieri Department from November 2023 to June 2025. This effort, including technical investigations and the collection of victims' statements, has allowed the identification of the persons responsible for a kidnapping with the aim of robbery carried out on November 28, 2023, in Macerata, Campania, inside the home of an Italian couple," police authorities told the media.
The victims were threatened, gagged, and threatened with a gun, in order to steal their money and gold jewelry, with a total value of approximately 64 thousand euros.
The investigating judge, agreeing with the prosecution's argument, both in light of the serious evidence of guilt and the preliminary requests, ordered the personal precautionary measure of detention for both suspects.
