A 39-year-old man declared internationally wanted by Spanish authorities has been arrested in Malësia e Madhe during the police operation codenamed "Fast", conducted by the Search Sector (FAST Albania), in cooperation with the Shkodra Local Police Directorate.
Citizen Gentjan Handraj alias Gentjan Hotaj, 39 years old, born in Koplik, who was wanted by Interpol Madrid, was arrested.
According to the State Police, the Spanish Court, by decision dated July 8, 2026, had assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", as he is suspected of the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics" and "Participation in a criminal organization", committed with the aim of trafficking narcotics.
The arrest was made following the exchange of information and operational coordination between Albanian authorities and their counterparts in Spain, as part of efforts to locate and capture internationally wanted persons.
Meanwhile, Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Spanish authorities, is continuing procedures for the extradition of the 39-year-old to Spain, where he will face justice.
