FIFA has entrusted a key role to Tatiana Guzman in the final between Spain and Argentina. She will be the assistant VAR in the match that will crown the world champion on July 19 at MetLife Stadium, making history in Nicaraguan football.

The appointment, also confirmed by the Nicaraguan Football Federation, marks a historic moment for the Central American country, as Guzman becomes the first Nicaraguan referee to be included in the refereeing team of a men's World Cup final.
A FIFA referee since 2014, Guzman has drawn attention at this World Cup with several important decisions from the VAR room. In the round of 16 match between Germany and Paraguay, she signaled a foul on goalkeeper Orlando Gil in the action that led to Jonathan Tah's goal. After reviewing the footage, the goal was disallowed, while her decision was praised as an example of quick reaction and correct interpretation of the rules, earning her the nickname "Eye Eagle".
Guzman was also a protagonist in the 1/8 match between Brazil and Norway. She signaled the main referee for a contact in the area with Mateus Kunja, and after the VAR review a penalty was awarded to Brazil. However, Bruno Guimaraes failed to convert it into a goal.
