Footage has been released of the police pursuit of Albanians after the gun attack that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Patisioni area, in central Athens, where one person was injured in the leg.
According to Greek media, the gunmen entered the victim's business with their faces covered, wearing black hats and masks. They shot him in the leg and then left in a vehicle where their accomplice was waiting for them.
A DIAS patrol unit was located near the scene of the incident, which immediately began the pursuit. The released video shows the moment when the perpetrators' SUV loses control during the escape and collides with vehicles parked near the Kifisos axis.
During the pursuit, the perpetrators threw the weapon at the intersection of Nirvana and Regkoukou streets. Police later found the weapon inside a supermarket bag. The vehicle was neutralized on Kifisou Boulevard, near Tsounta Street, while the suspects attempted to flee on foot.
Greek investigators believe the leg wound indicates the objective was to intimidate the victim, not eliminate her. Authorities do not rule out the possibility that the incident is related to drug trafficking.
Three people were arrested following the operation. According to Greek police, two of them are Albanian citizens with serious criminal records, while the third is a Greek citizen known to the authorities.
An eyewitness at the scene told Greek media that the victim had lost a lot of blood and was screaming "I was shot." He said that citizens provided first aid until the ambulance and police arrived.
" I saw that he was bleeding from his legs and we immediately tried to help him. He was in shock and couldn't talk much ," the witness said.
Greek police continue investigations to fully identify the motives and role of each of those arrested.
