The State Police has officially arrested the two nurses Nazmie Mulla, 31 years old, and Glesantina Saraçi, 26 years old.
They were arrested after the shocking event that happened on Thursday morning at the private asylum in Ali Demi where Virgil Vesho was killed by Zyhdi Shehi.
"We thought he had fallen and was dead when we found him."
This is what the two asylum nurses, already arrested by the Tirana Police, claimed during their testimony.
The claims of nurses Nazime Mulla and Glesantina Saraçi did not convince the Police investigators who arrested them on the charge of "committing actions that obstruct the truth".
However, the investigation group has doubts that the nurses did not do their job properly and that they did not call the police to report the incident.
They notified the funeral agency, who went and took the body wrapped in a sheet. It was the staff of the agency who, after seeing the body, noticed injuries on the head. Then they returned the body to the asylum and notified the police.
The operatives examined the security cameras and after interrogating the nurses, they stated that at first they did not understand that the elderly man had been killed, but thought that the event was accidental.
Author Zyhdi Shehi suffers from sclerosis and other diseases. The cause of the attack was a banal conflict between two elderly people over the bed.
The day before, on 08/08/2024, in a private asylum for the elderly, 78-year-old Zyhdi Shehu killed his 82-year-old friend Virxil Vesho with a cane.
Initially, the incident was not reported to the police, as the nurse had notified the morgue and a funeral agency to retrieve the victim's body.
