New details have emerged from yesterday's attack in Lezha, where 30-year-old Sokol Daci, the owner of the barbershop, was injured.
Police suspect that the main target of last night's attack was 21-year-old Merando Nikulaj.
The young man is the nephew of Ardian Nikulaj, who was killed in April 2023 in his bar. Investigative sources indicate that last summer, Merando Nikulaj is suspected of having been involved in a conflict with a group of young people in Shëngjin.
As a result of the shooting, Sokol Daci, 30, the owner of the barbershop where the attack took place, was injured. He was sent for medical attention and is out of danger.
The investigation team has returned to the scene to collect additional evidence, including blood stains that will undergo DNA analysis. Meanwhile, four bullets have also hit two other businesses across from the barbershop, but fortunately there are no injuries in them.
Security camera footage shows that the perpetrators were driving two vehicles, an Audi and a Volkswagen Passat. There were three people in the Audi, while there were other people in the Passat, two of whom are suspected of acting as shooters, firing volleys at the target.
Ardian Nikulaj was murdered on April 19, 2023 by Ruben Ribeiro Saraiva, who was allegedly hired by Edmond Haxhia, a resident of England. According to investigations, the main motive for this murder is related to revenge and the old conflict between the Nikulaj and Lestakaj families, where Haxhia is a relative.
How did the murder of Ardian Nikulaj happen?
Three years ago, businessman Ardian Nikulaj was murdered in his bar in Shëngjin.
This event brings to mind the long history of blood feud between the Nikulaj and Lekstakaj tribes, which culminated in 2023 with the murder of Ardian Nikulaj in the lobby of his business.
Nikulaj was executed by gunfire by Ruben Saraiva, who entered the premises disguised as a package delivery man and shot him dead, killing him on the spot. Investigations revealed that the murder was ordered and financed by Edmond Haxhia, a relative of the Lekstakaj family, with the help of several British citizens who were abroad.
The story of revenge began in 1996, at a gas station on the outskirts of Lezha, for a payment of only 5 thousand old leks. Pëllumb Nikulaj and Fran Qulaj, gas station employees, clashed with a member of the Lekstakaj family over the payment for gas. A few minutes later, a gunman returned and shot, killing Pëllumb Nikulaj's brother and Fran Qulaj. Then, on September 29, 1997, in Balldre, Lezha, Gëzim Ded Lekstakaj and Lauren Ndoc Gjetja were killed, while on March 30, 1999, Gjovalin Lekstakaj was killed and Pjetër Lekstakaj was injured. A witness to the events was Klodian Lekstakaj, Gjovalin Lekstakaj's son, who fled to England and requested protected witness status, but was denied by the Albanian authorities. In March 1999, two members of the Lekstakaj family, Gjovalini and Pjetri, shot Nikoll Nikulaj, the uncle of Ardian Nikulaj, who was later killed, while Nikoll Nikulaj retaliated with a hunting rifle, killing Gjovalini and wounding Pjetri, who fled to Birmingham, United Kingdom. The conflict reached its peak in 2023, when Edmond Haxhia, a relative of the Lekstakajs and resident in Britain, organized the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj alias Marku in Shëngjin, Lezha.
