The Lezha Court has imposed the security measure "house arrest" on 32-year-old Fatjon Rrika, suspected of placing explosives in the vehicle of crime officer Gentjan Gjetja.
The incident occurred on Sunday in the "Besëlidhja" neighborhood of the city of Lezha, where the explosion caused only material damage.
Sources indicate that, both at the time of arrest and during the court hearing, the 32-year-old denied any involvement in the incident.
According to the investigation, Rrika is suspected of having acted in exchange for payment from other people for placing TNT in the vehicle. He was identified by the police through video footage obtained on several road axes and was later located in the village of Zhejë, Kurbin, where he was arrested while riding a moped that is suspected to have been used in the incident.
The 32-year-old has a criminal record in Italy for armed robbery. During a search of his apartment, police also found an unlicensed shotgun, placing his father under investigation.
Meanwhile, investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances, as well as to identify another person suspected of collaborating in this incident. Investigators are also verifying the lead that connects the attack to the officer's duty in the crimes sector at the Lezha Local Police Directorate.
