The court of Perugia has decided to extradite the Italian businessman Davide Pecorelli to Albania. The request for Pecorelli's extradition to Albania was made by the Puka Prosecutor's Office. The 49-year-old was sentenced by the Shkodra Court to 4 years in prison last month.
In October 2022, the Puka prosecutor's office closed the investigations and accused the Italian of 5 criminal offenses: Fraud" in collaboration, "Violation of graves", "Actions that prevent the discovery of the truth" and "Destruction of property by fire".
Davide Pecorelli disappeared in January 2021 from Puka, where he found the car he had rented burned, inside which skeletal remains were also found.
As the Italian and Albanian authorities stood up to find out what had happened to the businessman, on September 17, 2021, Davide Pecorelli, miraculously appeared safe and sound in a raft near the island of Montecristo, quite shockingly telling the "story" where he had been and what he had done during the 9 months that he had been declared missing. He declared that he was looking for a treasure.
On the route from Rinas to Shkodra and then to Puka, he lost track by burning a skeleton inside the vehicle, which it turns out he took by damaging a grave in the Puka cemetery.
For several weeks this became the news that worried the investigators between Italy and Albania where a special group landed in Puka. But as the investigations were ongoing, it turned out that the bones found in the burned Skoda model vehicle belonged to another DNA and not the genetic tree of the Pecorelli family.
