"It was an accident, I'm not a murderer", the testimony from the

The death of 21-year-old Ema, who died after an accident in Thessaloniki, the city where she was studying, shocked the whole of Greece at the end of last November.

The author, a 27-year-old man of Albanian origin, who had lost control of the vehicle, hit the student to death and then disappeared, leaving her on the street. He is even accused that after the first blow, he turned back and hit the girl again, according to Protothema.gr.

The 27-year-old spoke for the first time from prison about the tragedy of that night, he apologized to Emma's family, he emphasized that it was a "traffic accident and not murder".

"I had studied after work and went for coffee... A girl asked me to drop her off in Ladadika and I agreed. It had started to rain a little. I was stopped at a red light, waiting for it to turn green, and I started… Then, in a dark place, Emma suddenly came out. Things did not happen as they say. I have never put it in reverse. I didn't have time to do anything, it was very close," said the 27-year-old initially speaking to Star.

He then tried to justify his disappearance from the scene of the accident.

"I was shocked, I didn't know what to do, I can't describe it. Everyone says 'he was sitting, doing one thing or the other'. I called a friend... I was without papers and without a degree. I told him I hit a man and asked him to call an ambulance. I left there, I was very stressed. The day after that I realized what happened... I was scared, I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to react. Even the girl who was with me was scared. That's how I was that night, I couldn't think of anything. I went to a hotel. I didn't know Emma's condition was so bad. I thought he wouldn't have hit a leg, a hand…”

Asked if he has anything to say to the family of the deceased girl and since he is expected to appear before them in the trial of the case, the 27-year-old said: "I am very sorry. I'm not a murderer, it was a car accident. It wasn't murder, it was a car accident, it was a mistake to leave there. What the mother is going through is indescribable. She is right in what she says. She is in pain, only she knows what she is going through. It is very difficult to face them in court…”

Emma's mother Kelly was asked to comment on the 27-year-old's "apology" to Star.

"For ten months he did not apologize. He kept it for the court. I don't know how I will be when I meet him in court. He is a killer who walks in the center of Thessaloniki with 100 kilometers. He hits my child, hits parked cars and turns around and hits him again. He didn't step on my calluses to apologize. My child, he violated me. In these cases, forgiveness is not said, but shown. What did he do to help my child? Did it stop? He didn't do it. He ran to hide, hid the car, license plates, hitchhiked, asked to be taken to the hotel. He was calm. And he's telling me he wasn't a murderer?” Emma's mother said.
