A 64-year-old man has been arrested by Tirana police for allegedly defrauding citizens of their money.
According to the police, the arrested perpetrator posed as a friend of their child who lived abroad to deceive the people he was deceiving. Through this fraud scheme, he demanded money from the 'victims' ranging from 500 to 1,000 euros.
"Crime Investigation Specialists at Police Station No. 1, as a result of investigations conducted with proactive methods, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "The Friend". Within the framework of this operation, the arrest of the citizen: SL, 64 years old, resident of Tirana was made.
"The investigation revealed that this citizen, through fraud, obtained various amounts of money, ranging from 500-1000 euros, from various citizens, by presenting himself as a friend of their children, who lived abroad," the police announced today.
