New details have emerged regarding the murder of Altin Arapaj in Greece, where the suspected perpetrator is Mikel Selimaj.
It is learned that Selimaj, who was under the influence of cocaine, threatened the police officer after arresting him.
"You're lucky I don't have the gun with me because I threw it away, otherwise I would have told you," 46-year-old Mikel Selimaj is reported to have said.
The perpetrator's threatening statement was made when the police officer was taking a photo of him with the aim of identifying him as a wanted person. Mikeli, as he was known to law enforcement, was involved in extortion and drug trafficking, and was known for the cruelty of his actions.
The murder case begins on Tuesday evening when 41-year-old Altin Arapaj is said to have met with his 46-year-old killer and two other people. They took him in a car and on the way the perpetrator shot his victim. The victim communicates with his wife, saying: "I just got shot. Come find me with the GPS on my phone."
The woman notified authorities and a search began to locate him. Initially, they found the victim's cell phone, with traces of blood on it, and a few hours later they found Arapaj dead in a vineyard. The victim appeared to have tried to call for help, but was overcome by the blood.
The police do not rule out the possibility that the victim was alive for several hours after the injury, which will be revealed by the autopsy and the determination of his time of death by the coroner. His wife told the police that she was going to meet a man whom she had mentioned to her on the phone. The police accompanied him and he stated in his statement that the victim had met with Mikel.
On Friday morning, a woman, the owner of a house in Glyka Nera, who had rented out the 46-year-old perpetrator on Airbnb, contacted the police, reporting that the tenant had come home in a “bad state” and was not opening the door. Police arrived there, where they found the 46-year-old under the influence of drugs, not communicating with them. A little later, they identified him as the one wanted for the murder of his compatriot. A few hours later, police arrested the two other people who were in the perpetrator’s car with the victim.
The prosecutor, studying the evidence in their file, ordered the police to file charges against them for complicity in murder. Traces of blood and a gun shell were found inside the vehicle.
The victim's wife claimed that her husband and the perpetrator had a disagreement over the management of an Airbnb in Artemida. "What happened was not to settle scores as was heard, but for wealth. There is a house in Artemida that is located by the sea and its cost is 2 million euros. They sued us for this house and in the end they took it. For this house that is not ours, but they gave me the Airbnb to work on," said the victim's wife.
