A criminal group has been busted by the capital's police. It is learned that 2 members of the group, who were selling weapons in Tirana, Fushë Krujë and Thumanë, have been arrested.
Police have seized 3 Kalashnikov firearms, 2 pistol firearms and combat ammunition, which were suspected of being sold in Tirana and Kruja.
Those arrested are 18-year-old Fatjon Kodra and 49-year-old Elton Kaci, while 2 others are wanted.
"The police operation codenamed "Helix" is finalized, as a result of investigations conducted using proactive methods within the framework of a criminal proceeding to crack down on the criminal activity of selling firearms.
A group that was carrying out this criminal activity was struck. 2 members of the group were arrested, and 2 others were declared wanted.
A case of firearms sales by this group is prevented. 3 Kalashnikov firearms, 2 pistol firearms and combat ammunition are seized, which were suspected of being sold in Tirana and Kruja.
As a result of intensive investigative actions carried out with proactive methods, within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated to crack down on the criminal activity of selling firearms, the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking, in cooperation with the Operational Force of the Tirana Police Department, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, have organized and finalized the police operation "Helix", as a result of which the following citizens were detained:
FK, 18 years old and EK, 49 years old, residents of Tirana. Citizens FA, 28 years old and EZ, 28 years old, were also declared wanted.
From the investigative actions, it is suspected that these citizens, organized as a group, were selling firearms in Tirana, Fushë Krujë and Thumanë.
Investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to fully document the criminal activity of these citizens, and to identify and apprehend other citizens involved.
Also, work continues to capture 2 citizens wanted in this case.
"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
