About 8 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in the refrigerator, under the pallets and behind the kitchen tiles. This is the drug load seized yesterday by the Financial Police of Rimini, who checked the apartment of a 44-year-old Albanian, entrepreneur in the real estate sector, resident in the Sant'Aquilina area.
Also, 80,000 euros in cash were found among the cupboards, drawers and shelves in different areas of the house, which are suspected to be the proceeds of illegal activity.
Not only that, because the police also found several boxes of rare, collectible and commemorative coins, as well as luxury watches (a Cartier, a Rolex and a Hamilton, the authenticity of which is currently in process).
According to the investigators, the Albanian entrepreneur bought all the objects with the money derived from the sale of cocaine. A way to clean dirty money, in short. Finally, the considerable seizure also includes 35 caliber 12 ammunition, kept without the necessary authorization, for which the Albanian was reported free.
After the search, authorized by the Prosecutor's Office of Rimini, the 44-year-old was arrested and sent to the Casetti prison, where on Wednesday morning, in the presence of his defender, the lawyer Massimiliano Orrù, the interrogation will take place, held before the investigative judge of Rimini, Vinicio Cantarini.
Investigations against the entrepreneur began in December 2023, when a Jeep Renegade was stopped in San Benedetto del Tronto, driven by a 25-year-old Albanian resident of Rimini, who was carrying 2 kilograms of cocaine.
From the collected information, serious circumstantial evidence emerged against the 44-year-old Albanian, suspected of keeping large quantities of narcotics in his apartment. A sort of wholesaler for other drug dealers on the Riviera, according to investigators. On Wednesday he will be able to clarify his position before the investigating judge.
