The General Directorate of Prisons has continued inspections in prison institutions, while this Saturday the action was focused on the Peqin prison.
During the checks carried out by the Operational Forces of the DPB and the security forces of the Peqin, Fier and Durrës Penitentiary Institutions, prohibited items were discovered and seized in several convict cells.
In the cell of high-security convict Gazmend Braka, known as “Gaxhai,” authorities found a 2-liter bottle of brandy, two bottles of whiskey, a bottle of wine, and two phone chargers. Braka, sentenced to life imprisonment, was previously caught with cell phones, for which he was given an additional year in prison.
The checks also revealed prohibited items in the cells of other convicts. Citizens with the initials PV were found to have an iPhone, charger, charging plugs and wireless headphones, while convict LD had two mobile phones, a charger and three bottles of raki seized.
In the official announcement, the Directorate of Prisons announced that the procedural materials have been referred to the Agency for further action, in accordance with the legislation in force.
