One person has been arrested, 1 other has been declared wanted, and 15 others have been placed under investigation by the police after they had adapted a 3-story building in Lezha for a casino and drug use.

According to the police, the building was located on "Gjergj Fishta" Boulevard, while the casino manager, Bledar Arapi, 47, was arrested and 24-year-old Elger Uka, who had rented the building, was declared wanted.

The Lezha Police chain of command will also be under investigation for failing to detect the activity, and the Professional Standards Directorate is taking action.

Following the operation, the arrest of citizen BA, 47 years old, was made in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Production and sale of narcotics", "Organization or exercise of gambling activities in violation of the law", "Making premises available for illegal gambling", "Hiding income", "Non-payment of taxes and duties" and "Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity". Following the actions, the wanted person EU, 24 years old, was declared wanted for the same criminal offenses, as the investigative actions show that this citizen has taken out a lease contract for the facility that was adapted as a casino. Work to capture him continues. During the operation, 15 citizens who were caught playing games of chance in the casino were also prosecuted. In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, work continues on the complete legal documentation of this case, as well as by the Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police to determine the responsibilities of the persons who were tasked with preventing and combating illegal gambling. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Lezha," the police announced.
