Journalist Armand Bajrami has stated that the killer of Arben Lleshi in Peqin prison, Sokol Mjacaj, was not an exponent to be placed in the 41 bis regime, as according to him, he was not part of criminal organizations.
Bajram made his comments in Euronews Albania, where he said that the decision to place him in 41 bis may have come because it is suspected that there was information that Mjacaj could be used by criminal organizations.
He also spoke about the girl who visited Mjacaj for the last time in prison, whom he said was once introduced as his cousin and once as a friend.
"41 bis is a kind of special prison regime, where prisoners are placed where they are more monitored and surveilled. The whole purpose is for certain characters who, while in custody or in prison, continue to keep in touch with the outside world, where they order murders and crimes. The case of Mjacaj was not a specific case for going to this regime. Because the murder of the minor and two Czech tourists from Mjacaj was not an organized crime.
Mjacaj was a man desperate to get out of prison cells and law enforcement agencies have realized that this person had a tendency to be used by organized crime. On November 16, Mjacaj held the last meeting. He met a girl who was once introduced as a cousin and another time as a friend of Mjacaj. The prosecution has the duty to verify whether it represents or is compromised. The method of entering the pistol is absolutely unprecedented", said Bajrami.
