The Supreme Court returned for retrial the Cërrik massacre with nine accused for killing 6 guards and injuring and endangering the lives of 16 others during the events of 1997.

More than a decade ago, the Cërrik massacre was tried in this hall, and the prosecution of that time insisted that it had the evidence against the accused in 1997 that Cërrik started with problems on May 19, 1997. On May 22, 1997, the chief of the police station asked for reinforcements and for this reason, a motorcade with 30 guardsmen headed towards Cërrik to recapture the police station and restore order.
The attack on the law enforcement took place on May 23, when the Elbasan police and the guards entered Cërrik, where they first found the burnt vehicle of the police station. Then the motorcade was attacked with firearms but also with anti-tank, forcing the guards who were in the blind to come out.
But the moment they went down to the square, they found themselves under gunfire, as a result of which Besnik Sula, Sali Martini, Petrit Ndoi were killed there, while Halit Haxhia and Bashkim Mnella were burned in the vehicle. The sixth officer of the guard, Qemal Mehmeti, managed to leave the fire, but he was followed closely and shot dead.
Earlier, the courts questioned the investigations carried out against the accused, based on the testimonies of the former mayor of Cërrik, citizen Mishelina Xhela, who stated that one of them, Llazar Bicja, together with representatives of the political forces, were in the office. of her during the massacre. /Top channel
