Investigations reveal thousands of people defrauded and economic damage suspected to exceed 50 million euros.

The Tirana Prosecutor's Office has issued 7 arrest warrants and 2 "travel ban" measures as part of the operation conducted in the capital, where three call centers suspected of computer fraud were hit.

The list of people for whom the measure of "prison arrest" has been imposed are: Eduart Dalla, Mateo Hoxha, Tedi Agastra, Ledio Toçi, Xhoel Mekolli, Marsel Lami and Xhoji Hitaj, the latter also known for a previous case of "attempted intentional murder". Meanwhile, Aida Vokli and Ledjon Cenaj have been left with the measure of "ban on leaving the country".

According to sources, during the operation, over 80 operators found in the premises of these centers were escorted and interrogated.

Over 800 thousand euros in cash, as well as numerous technological devices, including computers, servers, USBs and security cameras, were seized from the controls. The three Call Centers targeted were located in different areas of Tirana, while the investigations have also led to the identification of several other suspected bases, which are being verified.

The investigations, which began about two years ago in cooperation with German and Austrian authorities, have uncovered an organized fraud scheme targeting European citizens. According to the data, two of the arrested, Mateo Hoxha and Tedi Agastra, are suspected of converting profits into cryptocurrencies to hide the money's tracks.

Investigations speak of thousands of people being defrauded and an economic damage that is suspected to exceed 50 million euros, while investigations continue to fully uncover the network and the involvement of other people in this activity.

Call Center Attack

Yesterday's police operation included two premises near the "Zoo" area and another on "Kavaja Street".

In the latter, the activity is suspected to have taken place on three floors, while during the intervention, two of the floors were found with closed doors. Around 60 people were found inside this facility, while in total around 70 employees, mainly operators, are suspected to have been involved in these centers.

The investigation into this case began about two years ago, following information shared by German and Austrian authorities, who have been closely cooperating with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office. The operation is led by Prosecutor Rovena Zoto.

Among the people involved are also Eduart Dalla, Mateo Hoxha and Tedi Agastra, the latter previously investigated as part of a cryptocurrency operation in 2024.

This action comes after a series of similar operations in the capital, where fraud schemes through Call Centers have been discovered, including cases that took place in luxury tower blocks in Tirana.
