With a series of fake documents, how Ervin Mata's hiding place in Brazil

From the data, it is suspected that Mata had established connections with one of the powerful criminal groups in Paraguay, which seemed to guarantee his physical security, but also the trafficking networks, for which he is also accused by SPAK, being among the most wanted names in the "underworld"...

Ervin Mata, otherwise known as the "cocaine kingpin", was arrested in Brazil, based on a request from Albanian authorities, who had declared him an international wanted man. The operation was carried out by Brazilian special forces, who captured the Albanian in the suburbs of Sao Paulo.

At the time of his arrest, a series of false documents, passports and identity cards, were seized, which had helped the 'cocaine kingpin' live between Paraguay and Brazil.

According to recent reports, it is learned that Mata's capture was the result of a 2-year investigation between Interpol structures that had tracked down the Albanian wanted by SPAK.

It seems that after the verifications, the Brazilian authorities have decided to intervene by handcuffing Mata, who initially showed a passport with a birthplace in the United Kingdom, but which turned out to be false. Later, he was seized with a Bulgarian passport and forged identity cards, which were used by the 'cocaine kingpin' to circulate from one country to another, mainly in Latin America.

From the data, it is suspected that Mata had established connections with one of the powerful criminal groups in Paraguay, which seemed to guarantee his physical security, but also the trafficking networks, for which he is also accused by SPAK, being among the most wanted names in the "underworld".

Reports indicate that from the moment the Albanian justice system declared him wanted, Mata was based in Latin America, from where he then ensured movement from one country to another, sometimes using false Bulgarian documents and sometimes forged Paraguayan ones.

In 2023, Mata was declared wanted by SPAK as part of a criminal group of 11 people, including Erzen Breçani's son. This criminal group is suspected of trafficking kilograms of cocaine from Latin America to Europe. He is accused of coordinating members of the criminal group he was part of, for the trafficking of 250 kg of cocaine, sent from Brazil to Frankfurt airport in Germany, an episode that occurred at the end of September 2020.

The Criminal Court of Kosovo has imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison" on Ervin Mata for the criminal offenses "Trafficking in narcotics", committed within the framework of a structured criminal group, and "Committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group".

Investigations have also been conducted into several previous criminal events that occurred in Albania. The criminal group he was part of is also suspected of providing the conditions for the murder of two citizens in Albania, as well as money laundering cases.
