Brazilian media have provided details of Ervin Mata's arrest.
Earlier it was reported that a cocaine trafficker had been arrested in Brazil after a large-scale operation. According to local media, he was caught with the help of military police.
Brazilian media say he moved from his place of residence in Baixada Santista, which led intelligence to track him down. Footage of the arrest has also been released. He was captured in Ilhabela, Sao Paulo.
According to police, Mata attempted to pass himself off as a Paraguayan citizen, but was identified by law enforcement, who had records and images of him. After verifying his identity, he surrendered without resistance.

Ervin Mata's detention was previously ordered by Judge Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) as part of an extradition request.
According to the Federal Police, he is the target of an international investigation conducted by police forces in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Colombia and Brazil.

In a statement to CNN Brazil, the Military Police (PM) stated that Mata was found after intelligence information indicated that he had moved from the Baixada Santista region to the North Coast.
It is further stated that the suspect was found in a business and taken to the Federal Police Station in São Sebastião. During the operation, two mobile phones and documents were seized.
