An Albanian man, who was receiving unemployment benefits after losing his job, has been arrested by Italian police as a cocaine distributor.

The 35-year-old man had become part of a courier network in the Colombo area of ​​Rome. The drugs were ordered through social media platforms and messaging apps, and then delivered to homes via courier. Police say the activity was mainly carried out online.

Agents had to monitor internet communications, telephones and even field surveillance to reach the Albanian, who mainly patronized the Garbatella neighborhood and its surroundings.

The officers followed the Albanian's car, which parked near a supermarket. A little further on, the person who ordered the goods was waiting for him, also in a car. They also saw the moment when the envelope of drugs was exchanged for a wad of cash.

At that moment, investigators began the operation, handcuffing the suspects. As soon as the Albanian saw the officers, he hurried to hide his envelope under his jacket. In total, 100 doses of cocaine and crack, ready to be distributed to customers via the Internet.

The other person justified that the money was to pay a loan. The subsequent search of the house carried out by the police, revealed precise scales and packaging material, among them 600 grams of other narcotics, ready for distribution. Also in a notebook where notes were kept on the details or operations of the illegal business. Detailed searches also revealed 40 thousand euros in cash, well packaged, informs the Italian media.

The wholesaler, along with his courier caught red-handed in the exchange, was arrested for possession and trafficking of narcotics. After verifying the actions of the State Police, the judge imposed house arrest on the 35-year-old Albanian.
