New details have been revealed from the SPAK operation in cooperation with the French authorities, where 20 people were arrested, while 3 "heads" of the gang lived in Albania.
About 20 people of Albanian origin were arrested between February and early July in France and Albania, suspected of participating in international drug trafficking.
Their organization was active in the Auverge-Rhone-Alpes region. The leaders of the criminal group were located in Albania, while the profits from drug sales were taken out of France. The orders for the cargoes and orders for narcotics trafficking were given from Albania, where the "heads" of the gang were located.
"It is a large-scale network based on the scale and quantity of narcotics sold. With this drug import, a very important financial base was required. Then the money was sent to Albania", a source told CNEWS.
In detail, the drug was imported from the Netherlands by the network of Albanians and distributed in the areas where it was traded in Rhone, Loire, Ain, Savoie and Haute-Savoy. The Albanian gang made significant profits from criminal activity in France. The money was taken out of France and sent to Albania where it was invested in order to make it legal.
Who are the "heads" of the gang that were arrested in Albania?
A joint investigative unit, established last year, led to the arrest of around 20 Albanians, including 16 in France. This unit managed to exchange information in time between the French investigators from the Lyon Research Section (SR) and their counterparts in Albania. In both countries, arrests were made to dismantle this international criminal structure, writes CNEWS.
The person suspected as the "head" of the group was arrested in Albania together with his two associates during an operation conducted from July 1-3. They are Redian Doda, Zabit Fisniku, Fabi Isaku.
No less than 150 local policemen and gendarmes from the Lyon SR were mobilized for this operation.
A fourth member of this network was arrested in February while in France, where he is suspected of acting as an intermediary between the customer and the shipments due to arrive in Villeurbanne. Also, this person is suspected of managing another heroin and cocaine import network in parallel.
After his arrest, he returned to Albania, where he was required to serve a 16-year prison sentence for human trafficking and child exploitation.
10 bases where drugs were distributed were hit
"To deliver the cargo, they could leave at 01:00 in the morning and return at 10:00 the same morning. These people are about 30 years old. Their hunt was complicated by a feature that meant in their country they could change their name several times quite legally to avoid jail," the same source told CNEWS.
The culmination of these investigations launched in the summer of 2022 allowed the dismantling of more than 10 drug bases in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region but also the confiscation of 100 thousand euros in cash and 18 vehicles, including two of the cars used to import drugs in November 2023.
In France, more than 10 kg of cocaine and heroin were seized by investigators, as well as 82 kg of mixers, which could lead to the production of more than 400 kg of "goods", which in the market would reach the value of 800 thousand euros.
