Gunfire rocked the town of Memaliaj, in Tepelena, yesterday evening, leaving one victim and one injured.
According to preliminary data, 30-year-old Endri Goxhaj lost his life as a result of the shooting. The incident is suspected to have occurred after a conflict between him and 29-year-old Donaldo Nela, a conflict which, according to sources, may have been early and escalated to the use of a firearm.
The suspected perpetrator's brother, 25-year-old Dario Nela, was also injured in the shooting, under circumstances that are still unclear. He was transported to the hospital and is undergoing surgery after receiving four bullets: two in the lung, one in the abdomen and one in the spleen.
The incident occurred near a bar in the center of Memaliaj. Immediately after the report, police forces arrived at the scene and began pursuing the suspected perpetrator, who fled in an unknown direction.
Meanwhile, the investigation group continues its work to fully clarify the circumstances and document the event.
"Around 20:50, in Memaliaj, it is suspected that after a conflict, citizen DN, 29 years old, shot citizen EG, 30 years old, who lost his life on the way to the hospital.
The suspected perpetrator's brother, citizen DN, 25 years old, was also injured, under still unclear circumstances, and his life is out of danger.
The suspected perpetrator, after the incident, fled in a vehicle. Police services are pursuing him.
"In the meantime, a special investigative group has been established, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to clarify the circumstances and legally document the event," the police statement said.
