The amount of cocaine seized in subsequent raids on the drug traffickers' homes would have a street value of more than 726,000 euros on the black market, according to a decision made public this Tuesday by the Valencia High Court of Justice.
The court sentenced the two ringleaders, both Albanian citizens, to six and a half years in prison and fines of one million euros. The court agreed to replace the prison sentence with deportation from Spain after they had served two years in prison.
A third person, a Spanish national, who was in a second-level position within the criminal network and was responsible for transporting the drugs, received a sentence of three years and eleven months in prison and a fine of 400,000 euros.
The court also sentenced two other gang members to six months in prison. These individuals were responsible for renting out properties used by the gang leaders, where narcotics were stored.
The court also sentenced the sister of one of the defendants to two months in prison as an accomplice in the crime of organized crime, for helping her relative pay the rent from time to time.
The decision establishes that the convicted individuals were part of an organization that operated in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón, in which each member had a specific role, such as leading the gang, securing drugs, transporting them or renting properties to store and prepare them for sale.
During the searches carried out in the homes of drug traffickers, various quantities of cocaine and equipment necessary for preparing it for distribution were found, as well as cash from its sale: 26,000 euros in 50-euro banknotes.
The decision, which is final, orders the seizure and destruction of the drugs and the confiscation of the seized assets and equipment, such as two vehicles, cash and mobile phones, which will be used for the prevention, investigation, prosecution and suppression of drug-related crimes.
