A court of first instance in Madrid, Spain, decided yesterday to set a 37-day prison term for the arrested Lulzim Berisha, otherwise known as the leader of the Durrës gang.
The security measure was developed in the court of extraditions and foreign relations, where Berisha was introduced to the two "prison arrest" security measures imposed by the SPAK special prosecutor's office and the Durrës prosecutor's office.
Berisha had contracted a lawyer in Spain, who went to court with a request for the release of his client, against a financial guarantee.
But such a thing was rejected by the judge of the case, who decided to set a 37-day security measure against Lulzim Berisha.
Within this time, SPAK and the Durrës prosecutor's office must submit the request for the extradition to Albania of Lulzim Berisha, who is already awaiting an open trial at SPAK regarding the murder of Klodian Saliu in 2005.
As for the murder of Vajdin Lamaj and Artan Arsi, SPAK recently decided to stop the criminal prosecution for Lulzim Berisha and his former brother-in-law Plaurent Dervishaj.
In January 2022, Lulzim Berisha was declared wanted by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for the same thing that was released in 2016. It happened about 2 years ago after the Supreme Court overturned the decision to release him on bail.
In 2020, Lulzim Berisha was wanted for the murder of Vajdin Lame and Klodian Saliu, murders in 2005, which were revealed 15 years later.
For the murder of Lame and Arsi, the case was dismissed, while currently only Klodian Saliu was being sought, who was killed on the Durrës-Maminas road, in the village of Koxhaj while driving a "Mercedes Benz" car.
