Greek police report that the drugs were discovered in a rented vehicle in the Sajadha area; according to authorities, since September, about 835 kilograms of marijuana suspected of coming from Albania have been seized.
A quantity of 60 kilograms and 565 grams of marijuana has been seized by Greek police near the Greek-Albanian border, while an 18-year-old Greek man has been arrested, suspected of trafficking and transporting narcotics.
According to Greek authorities, the operation was carried out by officers of the Narcotics Department of the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Sub-Directorate in Igoumenitsa, during targeted checks carried out on the morning of Monday, March 16, 2026.
Officers located a private vehicle in the Sajadha area, owned by a car rental company, driven by an 18-year-old. During the search, three bags were found in the trunk and rear seats of the vehicle, containing 55 packages of marijuana.
The entire quantity seized resulted in a total weight of 60 kilograms and 565 grams, while a criminal case has been opened against the young man for offenses related to drug trafficking and transportation.
Greek authorities announce that, since September, around 835 kilograms of marijuana have been seized, suspected of having entered from Albanian territory.
According to the police, cases have been identified in Igoumenitsa, by land and sea, as well as in other areas such as Ioannina, Thessaloniki and Kos.
