Today, the police launched a wide-ranging operation in the country to attack organized crime, and among the names that have been issued arrest warrants are police officials. Among them is a well-known person. It is about Altin Morin, who was arrested on March 14, 2023 after 113 thousand euros were found in his car.
A month after his arrest, on April 16, the prosecution verified that the statement he made to the investigators that he had borrowed the money from a businessman for family matters turned out to be true.
So he was released from the cell and the security measure "compulsory appearance" was imposed on him.
Before he was handcuffed on March 14, he was in his vehicle with a senior law enforcement officer in the country he parted with in Kodra e Diellit.
Morina is suspected of being involved in the trafficking of heroin and cocaine, mainly in Tirana, Elbasan and Shkodër.
His role was to protect the traffickers of hard drugs.
Even a day before his arrest on March 14, he was in Elbasan where he allegedly handed over a sum of money. It is also suspected that Morina had a relationship with Kreshnik Halilajn.
The latter was arrested some time ago for having an arsenal of weapons and cocaine. It was the RENEA operative who helped Halilaj escape from prison. Morina hid the evidence, specifically 250 grams of cocaine found in Halilaj's apartment and reported it as flour.
Altin Morina started his career in the police in 2006 at Police Station No. 3 in the crime sector. In 2010, he moved to Internal Control and then to RENEA. In 2015, he was also at FNSH.
In 2015, he worked as a bodyguard in a nightclub.
At that time, he was dismissed from the police force, after being involved in a conflict.
By court decision, he returned to the police.
He also worked in the Antiterror Directorate in 2019, while in 2021 he was the head of the police station in Mallakastër.
Most recently, in 2022, he became head of training at RENEA.
