Road accidents have become a gangrene in Albania and if the responsible authorities do not take appropriate measures, it will continue to take lives.
The roads of Albania are once again bloodied by accidents. In just a few hours, as a result of two car accidents, 2 people lost their lives and 8 others were injured.
According to the data, both accidents occurred as a result of non-compliance with traffic rules.
One accident happened in Korça was caused by a wrong overtaking, while the other happened in Librazhd because of the speed exceeding the allowed norms.
In both accidents, it turns out that the people involved are between the ages of 18 and 36, showing that young people, taking advantage of the lack of police controls in some road segments, use them to violate traffic rules, which in most cases end up in fatality.
It is not only the fault of drivers, in many cases accidents occur due to lack of signage and lighting. Road accidents have become a gangrene in Albania and if the responsible authorities do not take appropriate measures, it will continue to take lives.
The two tragic accidents that happened this afternoon:
The first accident with the balance of one victim and 5 injured occurred near the village of Belorta in Korçë, where 2 cars collided 'head on' with each other. According to the first reports, two vehicles collided hard and as a result one ended up in the ditch on the side of the road.
The victim was Elvis Mizaku from the village of Terovo, one of the drivers of the 'Volkswagen' type vehicle, who was trapped in the car for several minutes due to the accident and it took the intervention of the fire brigade to get him out. It is learned that the 36-year-old man could not survive his injuries and died on the way to the hospital.
As for the driver of the 'Hyundai' type car, 23-year-old KH, it is reported that his life is out of danger. The passengers who were in the 23-year-old's car, citizens BP, DP, Dh. P. and citizen AP, who are in the hospital of Korça, under the care of doctors.
According to the traffic police, one of the vehicles made a wrong maneuver, bringing the tragic balance of the accident. The police are investigating the causes of this serious accident with so many injured, where children are suspected to be among them.
"On 04.02.2024, around 17:20, on the road axis "Bilisht-Korçë" near the village of Belorta, Korçë, the Hyundai type vehicle with driver KH, 23 years old, collided with the Volkswagen type vehicle. headed by citizen EM, about 36 years old, resident in the village of Terovë.
As a result, the driver of the "Volkswagen" type vehicle, 36-year-old EM, lost his life, and 4 passengers of the other "Hyundai" type vehicle were injured, citizens BP, DP, Dh. P. and citizen AP, who are in the hospital of Korça, under the care of doctors.
Further procedural actions are being carried out with the driver of the "Hyundai" type vehicle, citizen KH. The investigative group is working to determine the causes of the accident," the police announced.
Meanwhile, the second accident happened just a few minutes ago on the Elbasan-Librazhd road axis.
According to preliminary information, it is learned that a vehicle left the road and rolled for about 30 meters at the place called Dragostunja turn in Librazhd. It is learned that a car has ended up in the Shkumbin river and from preliminary reports it is suspected that 1 person has lost his life, while 3 others have been injured.
The injured are: Meglind Kristo Zeneli, 20 years old (driver); Gerald Agim Verçani, 18 years old (passenger); Janikos Jorgo Shyti, 19-year-old (passenger) and Dorian Fatmir Belba, 18-year-old (passenger), the victim passed away.
All the accident victims are from the village of Qukës-Shkumbin, from the Municipality of Prrenjas. It is not yet known how the health condition of the injured is presented. Preliminarily, it is suspected that the vehicle was speeding beyond the speed limit, and lost control in a curve. After leaving the highway, it fell from a height, rolling and ending up on the railway track.
"On the road axis "Librazhd-Perrenjas", the vehicle driven by citizen MZ, 21 years old, went off the road. As a result, the passenger who was traveling in this vehicle, citizen DB, 18 years old, died at the scene, as well as others were injured the driver of the vehicle and 2 other passengers, who were transported for medical help to the hospital for the moment out of danger to life.
