A 51-year-old Albanian woman has been sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of 7,000 euros after stalking her 70-year-old neighbor from Cremona, Italy.
The elderly woman experienced a nightmare for ten years because of her neighbor, who since 2015, had been stalking and insulting her. Giuseppina stated during the hearing last November that she was also verbally attacked.
"She's doing black magic on me with baking soda. She called us disgusting, liars, but we always responded with silence. Except once, when I told her she needed treatment. She was making noise all the time in the house, upstairs, screaming, when she saw us she said 'noise, noise', as if she had to drive away the devil, she made the gesture with her horns and spat on us," was the Italian's testimony.
The family had tried to seek help, turning to institutions and social workers, but nothing was done.
"It was like a vicious circle. My father, who had fallen ill in 2022, died in November 2024 and because of these attitudes, he was unable to experience those moments of peace and silence that were necessary for him. We were tortured by this lady," the couple's daughter stated.
Because of her neighbor, Giuseppina no longer left the house except to go shopping and go to church.
"I am always anxious and take antidepressants. We have always responded to insults with silence, even if we were angry inside. We have never put ourselves on her level. We have reported her every time, but she never stopped," the 70-year-old added in court.
Before the sentencing, the 51-year-old Albanian tried to defend herself, claiming it was all lies and trying to reverse the roles.
"Giuseppina was arrogant, she was the one who offended me. It was her fault that I cried so much. She also hypnotized me like Giucas Casella and cast a spell on my son. I looked for an exorcist on Google," the 51-year-old woman said.
