
A 57-year-old man has been arrested by the Border Police in Kapshtica after attempting to bring a significant amount of suspected smuggled goods into Albanian territory.
The arrest was made during in-depth checks at the entrance to the border crossing, where authorities seized goods without purchase receipts, including alcoholic beverages, food products, cigarettes and mobile phones.
"Following systematic checks and those based on police information, the services of the Korça DVKM, at the Kapshtica Border Crossing Point, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, passed for a second-line check the vehicle driven by citizen Th. B., 57 years old, resident of Plasë.
During the search, food products and alcoholic beverages, dozens of cigarette packs and several mobile phones were found in the vehicle, suspected of being smuggled from Greece, as they were not equipped with purchase receipts. Following the procedural actions, the 57-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty" and "Smuggling of other goods", and the goods were seized. The procedural materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
