An anti-drug operation by the Swiss police has led to the arrest of an Albanian-Italian couple, suspected of involvement in drug trafficking. A 51-year-old Albanian citizen and a 35-year-old Italian woman were arrested after being caught red-handed in their apartment in Davesco-Soragno, where 1.4 kilograms of cocaine were found.
According to Swiss authorities, the arrests are the result of a long investigation, which has been extended in time and includes several previous episodes. The Public Prosecutor's Office and the Cantonal Police announced that the arrested Albanian is residing in Germany. During the search of the couple's home, investigators also seized 10 grams of ecstasy, while it is suspected that the two are part of a wider drug distribution network in the Sottoceneri area.
This development follows a previous police operation on February 22, when 2.8 kg of cocaine, over a kilogram of cannabis and its derivatives, a pistol and three other weapons were seized during a search of a villa in Pregassona. Three people were arrested at that time: two Italians and a 28-year-old Romanian citizen.
"This operation is part of a wider investigation, which lasted several months, which has already led to the arrest of several individuals. On February 22, during a police raid on a villa in Pregassona, 2.8 kilograms of cocaine, over one kilogram of cannabis and its derivatives, a pistol and three rifles were seized. Two Italians, aged 47 and 46, and a 28-year-old Romanian citizen were arrested at that time ," Swiss media reported.
The investigation has continued since this incident. In early April, investigators arrested three more people: two Italians, aged 57 and 34, and a 38-year-old Swiss national. In the meantime, authorities are also examining the legal positions of several other individuals involved, for whom no immediate restrictive measures have yet been taken.
