The repentant justice official, Artan Tafani, has again testified in the trial against Laert Haxhiu, revealing details about the planning of the murder of Rexhep Gina.
During the hearing, Tafani stated that in July 2022 he lived with Laert Haxhiu in the Astir area of Tirana and that during that period they had taken action to carry out the murder of Rexhep Gina.
According to him, the motive for the crime was related to enmity and old conflicts. Tafani said that he did not know Gina personally, while the explanations for the reasons for the execution were given to him by Laert Haxhiu himself.
"For enmity. He was with Aldo Bare's group. There was also a property conflict. Laerti more or less explained the reason to me," Tafani declared before the court.
He said that the first talks about eliminating Rexhep Gina took place in Athens, where Gina was living at the time. According to the testimony, the meeting where the plan was discussed was attended by Laert Haxhiu, Artan Tafani and Mario Diamanti, who was later killed in Greece.
Tafani said that Haxhiu had obtained information about the target's movements through a Greek police officer, while adding that Rexhep Gina was constantly monitored.
According to him, two people close to Haxhiu sent the latter videos and photos of Gina, while Haxhiu himself had been following her for a long time with the aim of organizing the assassination.
Tafani's testimony is part of the ongoing trial against Laert Haxhiu, accused of a series of serious criminal events.
