Two people were arrested today by the police of Gjirokastra, while another was declared wanted because they were trying to illegally transport Indian immigrants.
The police chased them after they did not obey the order to stop. After they caught them on the "Tepelena-Krahës" road axis, 8 immigrants from India were found in the respective vehicles.
"The coded police operation "Delta" is finished. Another case of illegal transportation of immigrants is struck.
Co-authors for the transportation against payment, of 8 immigrants from India, 2 citizens are arrested in the act and work is being done to catch another.
3 "Benz" and "Audi" type vehicles, used for this illegal activity, as well as 2 mobile phones are seized.
As a result of the quick follow-up of the information provided by the police intelligence, that 3 citizens would carry out in an organized manner, the transportation of some immigrants, with the aim of illegally crossing the borders, the specialists of the structures for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic, operational and of the Traffic Police organized and finalized the coded police operation "Delta".
During the operation, 22-year-old and 22-year-old citizens were caught and arrested in the act, as well as a 21-year-old citizen was declared wanted, all three living in Lushnja.
The 3 vehicles driven by these citizens were signaled to stop, on the "Tepelen-Krahës" road axis. The drivers did not obey the order but continued the movement quickly. Immediately, the Police services were put in pursuit and as a result it became possible to capture the two 22-year-olds. From the controls, a total of 8 immigrants from India were found in the vehicle driven by the citizen and in the one driven by the citizen, while from the investigations it is suspected that the arrested citizen was checking the road to signal the presence of the Police.
Efforts are being made to capture and detain the citizen.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Gjirokastër, for further actions", the police announcement states.
