A 40-year-old Albanian man has fallen into the hands of the Turin police, after he was caught with 31 kg of pure cocaine, which, according to the Italian authorities, was destined to be sold in the northern regions of Italy, mainly in Piedmont.
Several days of investigations revealed that some vehicles, at the disposal of Albanian subjects, were used for the "distribution" of drugs in Piedmont. The investigations made it possible to identify a specific car that could be used to transport drugs in the relevant territory.
The operatives of the Economic-Financial Police Unit, on the night between March 18 and 19, have located the vehicle in Emilia Romagna, especially in the province of Ravenna, traveling towards the northwestern areas of the country.
The vehicle was subjected to a special control on the road, using the help of a dog. During the police actions, the drug dog "KENIA" of the Ravenna Financial Police Group immediately reported the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. After a deeper search of the car, 27 blocks of cocaine, with a total weight of 31,155 kg, were found hidden inside two skirts located in the rear of the passenger cabin.
This amount of narcotics, if it were to be released on the "retail" market, could have brought illegal income of over 3 million euros.
At the end of the activity, the Albanian was arrested in the act for the criminal offense of trafficking and illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances, with the aggravating circumstance of large quantities.
