The State Police has officially reacted to the assassination attempt that occurred this Friday evening in Saranda, where 50-year-old Thimjo Rubati was wounded by gunfire.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 9:15 PM in neighborhood No. 4 of the city, near the 50-year-old's business.
Sources inform me that Rubati received 3 bullets, one in the thigh, one in the abdomen and one in the right arm. As a result of the wounds received, Rubati was urgently sent to Tirana for medical treatment.
Immediately after the shooting, numerous police forces arrived at the scene, set up checkpoints and began searching for the perpetrators.
Initial investigation indicates that the attack was carried out by two people wearing spacesuits, who fled on a motorbike immediately after the attack. Police have not yet released any details on the suspected motive for the attack.
"Around 21:15, in neighborhood no. 4, in Saranda, under still unclear circumstances, citizen Th. R., 50 years old, was wounded with a gunshot wound in front of his business. He was transported to the hospital, where he is receiving medical assistance.
Police services immediately arrived at the scene and intensive checks are continuing in the area to identify and capture the perpetrator(s). Initial reports suggest that the perpetrators were two people wearing spacesuits, who fled the scene on a motorbike.
Meanwhile, the investigative group, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is continuing its actions at the scene to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, as well as to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s) .
Who is 50-year-old Thimjo Rubati?
Sources indicate that Thimjo Rubati is a person with a criminal record, known to the authorities for acts related to the trafficking of illegal immigrants, smuggling, illegal possession of weapons and trafficking of motor vehicles. He also has two identities as he is also known as Sandri Rubati.
His name is not unknown to the police, as he was arrested in 2002 for trafficking minors and in 2012 for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl.
