He was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana, on 26.03.2006, after the Court of First Instance for Serious Crimes, Tirana, with the decision dated 06.06.2013, sentenced him to 25 years of imprisonment, for the criminal offense "Murder with premeditation", committed in cooperation, "Serious wounding with intent", committed in cooperation and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

In addition, this citizen was declared an international wanted by Interpol Rome, Italy, on 29.09.2011, after the Court of Appeal of Florence, Italy, with the decision dated 15.04.2010, sentenced him to 16 years and 5 months of imprisonment (part of remainder of the sentence of 13 years, 8 months and 6 days of imprisonment), for the criminal offense "Criminal group for the purpose of drug trafficking", provided by the Italian Criminal Code.
Accusations in Albania
Dritan Rexhepi, until 2010, was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for the murder of two policemen in Kruja in collaboration with two other people. But 4 years ago the court case was separated. Rexhepi was sentenced to 25 years in prison, while his two accomplices, Sokol Halilaj and Shefqet Seferi, were sentenced to 20 years in prison. The Dritan Rexhepin file, also known as Gramoz, was singled out because this citizen was in prison in Italy and a letter was sent there.
This was one of the reasons why Appel returned the file for retrial, since Rexhepi had to be notified in Italy about the trial in his charge, while he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court without being informed that he was being tried. The court found Sokol Halilajn and Shefqet Seferin, Dritan Rexhepi's accomplices in this crime, guilty of the triple murder that occurred in 1999.
Seferi acted as a mediator between two citizens of Vlonia, Halilaj and Rexhepi, who were also called contract killers. All three of these people are accused of murder due to the duty of two police officers, Arben Keqin and Durim Kasmin, in 1999 in Krujë. In the incident, the owner of a bar in Krujë, Raim Bakiasi, was accidentally killed.
Interpol: Four countries joined the action to capture the Albanian
The central office of Interpol in Lyon, France has evaluated the role of the Albanian Police and Interpol Tirana in the arrest and identification of one of the most wanted persons, the Albanian citizen Dritan Rexhepi. The official website of Interpol provides details of the "Infra Red" operation during which Dritan Rexhepi was arrested in Ecuador. "The arrest and identification of one of the most dangerous and wanted persons is a credit to all law enforcement agencies involved. This demonstrates the effectiveness of international police cooperation and underlines the value of the global services and tools of the Police and Interpol", stated the Executive Director of Police Services at Interok, Jean-Michel Louboutin.
He also welcomed the important step taken by the Albanian authorities in identifying Rexhepi as a target in the "Infra Red" operation. "The authorities in Albania, Belgium, Ecuador and Italy are to be commended for their role in cooperation with law enforcement around the world to bring to justice an individual wanted internationally for very serious criminal offences," he said. director Louboutin. It has not yet been determined where Dritan Rexhepi will be extradited first: in Albania, where he is wanted for the murder of two policemen, in Italy, where he also escaped from prison for a serious crime, in Belgium, where he is wanted for drugs, in Spain for robbery, or in Great Britain, which requires prostitution for exploitation. However, Interpol considers this case the easiest to solve, since the arrest of Dritan Rexhepi was more important than anything else.
The three escapes from Albania, Italy and Belgium
The Spanish media opened with a headline in July 2011, calling Dritan Rexhepi the "king" of escapes. Journalists in Spain wrote several days in a row about the wanted Albanian, after he carried out the robbery of one of the biggest banks in Barcelona, in the evening when all the fans were in the square celebrating the victory of the Champions League by Barcelona.
The local police were shocked by the way Albanians carried out bank robberies, labeling them as "robbers who leave no trace". After the arrest, Rexhepi was extradited to Belgium, where he was wanted for drug trafficking. But he did not stay in the cell for more than two months, since in October 2011 he escaped from prison together with another convict.
But this was not his first escape, so he was considered a master of escapes. In 2008, he made another spectacular escape from Pavia prison in Italy. Rexhepi takes an old woman's car and disappears, causing the entire prison staff to be fired. But he had done the same in Albania. After being arrested in the lobby of a hotel in Tirana with two pistols in his belt in 2006, Rexhepi escaped from the Durrës Police Station, after some help from the police, who left the door open for him.
