New details have emerged regarding the execution of the Greek mobster, Vangjelis Zabunis, on "Ilia Iliu" street in the center of Athens, yesterday.
According to Greek opinions, the police believe that one or more of the executioners are contract killers. The main suspicions are that they arrived from a Balkan country, probably from Albania.
The investigation is still ongoing and a search is being made for any possible clues that the perpetrators may have left.
According to the authorities, it was learned that the victim had heavy weapons, but did not have time to use them, as the perpetrators had studied their plan very well and it is not excluded that they had made tests for him, leaving him no time to react .
The police announced that a Glock 9 mm pistol was found in the 44-year-old's car, while in the trunk there was also a Kalashnikov with magazines and an unknown number of cartridges.
We recall that Zabunis, an important exponent of the underworld in Greece, was executed on Saturday evening in his vehicle. A few minutes after the execution at the exit of Athens in the place called Hajdari, the perpetrators' vehicle was also found burnt, an off-road vehicle which turned out to be rented, while inside the vehicle were also the weapons used in the murder.
The 44-year-old survived another assassination attempt 3 years ago. But unlike then, when the perpetrator's gun was blocked, this time the perpetrators were not wrong. Zabunis was arrested several times and was on the top list of suspects for several attacks on other gangs. He was also involved in fuel and alcohol smuggling, as well as fine-imposing.

The latter come out and shoot dozens of times at the car of Vangjelis Zabunis. Merciless in his act, one of the executioners opens the car door and continues to shoot again, to be more than sure that Zabunin is dead.
Police said they found 97 shell casings at the scene and that the assassins are suspected to have used 3 different weapons, at least 2 Kalashnikovs (which were found in the perpetrators' burned car) and a 9 mm pistol.
