The session scheduled to take place today in the Special Court, for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who is seeking the removal of the house arrest measure, has been postponed.
According to Berisha's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, this is intentional as they seek to burn the deputy's mandate.
"There are several reasons, which we will inform them about in the next session. This is one of the reasons, but there are others. We have to go to court once. The request for the exclusion of Irena Gjoka is related", said Gjokutaj.
Sali Berisha has been under house arrest since December 2023, under the charge of passive corruption in cooperation, for the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday at 10:50 a Criminal Panel composed of judges Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sandër Simoni will judge Berisha's claim to extinguish the first security measures against him, that of "obligation to appear" and " ban on exiting the country".
His son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, is accused of having benefited from an income of 5.4 million euros from a construction business in an irregular manner thanks to the government decisions made by his father-in-law.
