A 54-year-old Albanian was seriously injured during an attempted robbery in Portugal. The event took place in Valença, in the jewelry store "Cacho".
Five people tried to rob the jewelry store, hitting one of the two brothers, its owners, on the head.
The group of robbers was under the surveillance of GNR police agents, as well as a prosecutor, as they were suspected of other incidents in Portugal and Spain.
As soon as they saw the robbery attempt, the police and the prosecutor intervened. The police opened fire in the air. One of the robbers threatened the prosecutor with an iron rod, causing the latter to shoot him in the stomach and wrist.
The injured suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest, to which the magistrate himself responded with resuscitation maneuvers. The injured then ended up in the "Viana do Castelo" hospital, already with a pulse.
He has been identified as a 54-year-old Albanian citizen with a residence visa in Malta. The other four are Moroccan and Italian nationals. Portuguese police confirmed that the five suspects were armed with firearms in the attempted robbery of the jewelry store.
