A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning in Prato, Italy, where a 56-year-old Albanian worker lost his life at work. According to preliminary reports, the victim, employed by a company that carried out activities for the Italian State Railways, was crushed by a truck that suddenly lost control and began to slide down a steep road. The worker allegedly tried to stop the vehicle, but ended up crushed by it.
The incident occurred at around 11:00, and although medical assistance arrived quickly, doctors could only confirm his death. Local authorities, including municipal police, firefighters and representatives from the Public Prosecutor's Office, arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. The area was immediately cordoned off, and the vehicle involved in the accident was seized.
The competent authorities are continuing the investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the facts and to verify compliance with workplace safety regulations. The hypothesis at the moment is manslaughter, explained the Prato prosecutor, Luca Tescaroli, and the investigation aims to identify any criminal responsibility.
