
A 23-year-old Albanian faces life in prison in North Carolina, after being accused of trying to kidnap two minor girls at different times.
According to foreign media, 23-year-old Andy Bala attempted to kidnap a 7-year-old girl in Sterling Heights and another, aged 15, in Clinton Township.
Bala was arrested by Sterling Heights Police on Tuesday after he allegedly approached a 7-year-old girl in Clinton River Park North, pulled her off her bike and tried to put her in his car, according to the Macomb County District Attorney's Office.
About an hour before the arrest, police received another report that a boy had attempted to kidnap a 15-year-old girl, the Clinton Township Police Department said in a press release. The girl was walking on Clinton River Road.
He allegedly grabbed the girl's head and neck and tried to put her in his car, according to prosecutors. A resident intervened to help the girl escape and then notified the authorities.
Sterling Heights 41-A District Court Magistrate Michael Piatek remanded Bala to the Macomb County Jail.
As for the attempted kidnapping of the 7-year-old, it was her aunt who saved her.
