The Spanish police have managed to arrest an Albanian citizen, considered one of the leaders of the "Balkan Cartel" cell, responsible for 2.3 tons of cocaine seized a few days ago on the fishing vessel "Bestarruza" where 4 crew members were arrested. among which 2 Albanians. The other two are an Argentine and an African from Cabo Verde.
The operation of the American DEA in cooperation with the structures of the Spanish police authorities, according to the media, gave a strong blow to this cell located in Galicia, waiting for loads of cocaine. In addition to the drugs seized on the ship, checks in A Coruna revealed 200,000 euros in cash and a "Maserati" type vehicle owned by the head of the group. The Albanian was caught in a hotel, as he was heading towards Madrid, as soon as he was notified of the seizure of the cocaine load.
In his statement, the captain of the fishing vessel, based in A Coruña, said that the "Balkan Cartel" was holding his wife hostage until the successful completion of the operation. Agents, while discrediting that testimony, entered the home with specialized officers. It was confirmed that none of this was true, as the woman appeared shortly afterwards accompanied by a minor of her own accord.
