A tragic accident happened today in Val Masiono, in the province of Sondrio in Italy.
Three carabinieri have lost their lives while training at altitude.
The victims are aged 32 years, 25 years and 22 years.
The carabinieri have fallen down the slope while they were climbing with a rope at a height, which has resulted in fatal consequences.
"They were running a two-team drill. During the climb, one of the teams fell. One belonged to the Alpine School of the Guardia di Finanza (Sagf) station in Sondrio, while two to that of Madesino. At the scene, in addition to the carabinieri, the acting magistrate of the Prosecution of Sondrio, Piero Basilone. The rescue teams who received the request for help around 13:00 were also present and are working to extract the bodies" , announced the Italian authorities.
