Seferaj was one of two perpetrators wanted for the incident. According to police, the other suspected perpetrator who accompanied him was 40-year-old Ilirjan Gjoka.
Both perpetrators were suspected of the criminal offenses of "Threat or violence against election participants" and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition."
The denunciation of the event was initially made by the SP candidate for MP for the Lezha region on the safe list, Ermal Pacaj, who accused the Democrats, led by the DP candidate in Lezha, Gjin Gjoni, a former judge excluded from Vetting. Pacaj said that the DP vote protection structure, through armed men, threatened the father of the candidate for MP Klotilda Ndreca and the head of the SP in Lezha, Emirjan Lazri.
Even in the May 11 elections, the Democrats restored the same structure for vote protection as in 2021. An illegal scheme that also led to victims in that year's campaign, in Elbasan, where sympathizer Pjerin Xhuvani was killed (just 4 days before the elections).
This illegal scheme, brought back in these elections by the Democrats in the country's districts, apparently did not have any positive impact, as the results of May 11 showed a deep defeat for them.
Sali Berisha's candidate in Lezha, the much-discussed former judge Gjin Gjoni, published a video on social media during the campaign accompanied by the text that "vote protection groups are chasing people who go out at night for nefarious electoral purposes. We are everywhere. We will chase them down."
