The "Tornado" operation against an international drug trafficking organization based in Albania and extending to Italy, Switzerland and Poland is continuing at this moment.
The operation, which is being coordinated by Europol, is the result of 4-year investigations that have also used the analysis of conversations in "Sky ECC".
The latest information indicates that a total of 135 people have been under investigation, of which 61 have been issued arrest warrants that are being executed simultaneously in the four states. Among those arrested is Vincenzo Bruno, with suspected links to Sacra Corona Unita in the Brindisi area.
Together with him, the treasurer of the clan, from whom nearly one million euros in cash was seized. According to the investigations, they were in contact with the leaders of the organization based in Albania and that sold cocaine which was then imported to Italy from the Netherlands and Spain.
It is learned that two different groups joined within this organization: an Italian-Chinese and an Albanian. The latter managed the drugs and the former laundered the money. The group is suspected of laundering illegal profits through a system of "invoices for non-existent operations" for over 375 million euros, while assets worth over 60 million euros have been seized today. There is still no official information on how many people have been arrested by the Albanian police. New details are expected in the coming hours.
