After more than 24 hours of searching, the body of a 57-year-old Portuguese tourist, missing since yesterday, was found today by Border Police services. The victim was last seen swimming in the area known as "Buka e Vivarit" in Saranda.

According to the police, his body was found near the area where he had disappeared and was immediately transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the true cause of death; it is suspected to be accidental drowning.

The investigation team is working to uncover the full circumstances of this event, which has caused shock among vacationers and residents of the tourist area of Saranda.

" Following the preliminary information provided on 27.07.2025, regarding the Portuguese citizen AG, 57 years old, who was reported missing at sea, near the lagoon, in the place called "Buka e Vivarit", we inform you that: The Border Police Services have made it possible to find the lifeless body of this citizen at sea, near the area where he was last seen.

"The body will be transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, which is initially suspected to have been caused by drowning at sea ," the police said.
